Winter 2018-19 - A Recap

Deep winter condition in Altai/Russia

We are looking back on an eventful winter.

Let’s take a quick look back at our trips and journeys that this last eventful winter brought with it. In many of our destinations we were spot on with our timing and the conditions were perfect. This once again allowed for a season filled with fantastic runs and amazing mountain experiences, fuelling our drive to make us want to do it all over again next winter. By December we were already delving into the perfect powder in the forests of Siberia. In January it was off to Japan for the typical Japow, which also saw us getting up and close with the Japanese culture. The Alps concurrently offered fantastic conditions.

We then made our way to Georgia for heliskiing and catskiing around the Goderdzi Pass, where we had an incredible time, even with there being less snow than there had been in the previous years. We next touched down in Mestia, our long-cherished heliski base in Svaneti. Exceptionally good snow conditions and flight-friendly weather allowed for countless powder runs in the remarkable alpine terrain of the Greater Caucasus.

The party then rocked on in the Spanish Pyrenees. This was a particular culinary highlight and the touring terrain of Val d’Aran proved its worth once again. The Southern Alps unfortunately received little snow this winter, forcing us to cancel three of four heliski excursions in Valtellina. In difficult situations such as these, we always strive to offer the best possible alternative. We would also like to thank our loyal customers for their understanding and cooperation. Instead, we were able to head to Valais to take advantage of the good conditions there.

Later in the season we were spotted up north. Iceland, Sweden, Norway, and Spitsbergen have become annual highlights for us and even this winter we made some incredible memories.
