Wild Weather in the French Vosgues

Much better than expected

The weather forecast for our season opening in the Vosges called for a ski tour rather than biking. We quickly re-planned the program a bit and in retrospect the weather was the icing on the cake: sleet showers followed by warming rays of sunshine, cold feet and then cozy rooms in rustic auberges, endless trails and lots of smiling faces.

On the third day we were rewarded with fantastic views of the wild Vosges on a long high-altitude trail, constantly going up and down, before we went down a long ridge trail to the well-deserved Panache in the valley. All in all, it was an absolutely great start to the season, even though we were wrapped up warmly like for skiing and the washing machines were running at full speed afterwards.
