Iceland, a place where fire and ice is closer together than almost nowhere else on earth. The northern coastline of Iceland is dominated by many deep fjords surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges. In our week we will pick the prime spot, the Troll Peninsula.
The possibilities for great skitouring around here seem to be almost endless. Our base will be near the cozy fishing village of Siglufjörður in a very nice lodge. From here we have access to 3 different mountain ranges that we can chose from every day, depending on weather and snow conditions. The partly nameless mountain peaks of this area are in a range of height between 900 and 1400 meters. The variety of runs allows us to ski the best snow. In April we still enjoy great powder snow on northern aspects while we ski spring corn snow on the southern aspects. After an unforgettable ski day, we take a soak in one of the many natural hot springs to relax our muscles to be ready again for the next day. If you are keen to get to know an outstanding landscape and to ski some incredible runs right down to the fjord, we are sure you will have a great time with us on this trip.
The travel procedure
Iceland Air offers daily flights from many major destinations to Reykjavik. After arriving in Reykjavik we will reach the Troll Peninsula in the very north of Iceland in about 5 hours. Now the next 6 days we will enjoy some of the greatest ski touring in this unique landscape. Each day in the morning we decide, depending on weather and snow conditions, where we will go. Most of the peaks are reachable in less than 1 hour drive from our base. One day we will also visit the opposite side of Eyjafördur by boat. Here we have access from the Latraströnd to some very remote peaks, that do not see skitourers very often.
A very rewarding trip during the week is also the visit of Myvatn, one of the largest natural hot spring baths in the open air. If we want to ski a bit more than to hike, we can reach beautiful runs from the mountain station of the ski resort in Siglusfjördur. With short ascents, on the west side, we can even ski towards the open coast. The following Friday we will do a shorter ski tour, around 2 pm we start the drive towards Reykjavik. Friday night we dive into the vibrant city of Reykjavik. On Saturday morning our flight goes back to central Europe.

Please note the following three points after your booking:
A good or very good physical shape =>
A realistic self-assessment and an appropriate fitness level is required to join our trips. In order to enjoy long ski days you need to get in shape and train prior to the trip. A good fitness also reduces the risk of injury.
Information about the destination, vaccinations, health =>
Please keep yourself updated about the current (political) situation and country specific particularities of your destination. You can do so by checking the website of the ministry of foreign affairs of your own country.
Travel insurance =>
Please note that there is a potential risk of injury on a ski trip. When travelling abroad several travel insurances are imperative. Besides a travel cancellation insurance we highly recommend a travel health insurance as well as a travel accident insurance. These insurances need to cover potential costs for search and rescue operations and costs for hospital stays etc. It is your own responsibility to make sure you are covered accordingly.
For all of our trips that include a flight, a travel accident and travel health insurance that cover potential costs for search and rescue operations and medical costs (for example hospital stays) is mandatory. The insurance will be queried in our online registration form and we kindly ask you to fill in that information.
Appropriate insurance companies you can find in the internet. Please also check your credit card, eventually the according insurances are included.
