Since the last 13 winters, we were absolutely impressed by the amount and quality of the powder on Japan´s northern island Hokkaido. If a place on earth can say “we have the lightest powder”, for sure it is here. With an annual snowfall of about 20 meters, the region around Niseko is one of the snowiest places on the planet. Due to its setting, it is a very favored place. From November until April huge amounts of fresh and light powder snow are guaranteed. Probably the most known place on Hokkaido is Niseko, although there are many other smaller places that are really worth going like Rusutsu, Kiroro, and Kokusai. If you love to ski in heavy snowfall through perfectly gladed terrain, I am sure you will discover the ultimate conditions with us here on Hokkaido.
After your arrival at Chitose Airport (Sapporo), we will drive by minivan for about 2 hours through snowy landscapes to our Hotel Niseko Weiss, just a few minutes away from the ski area Niseko. The hotel sits in a perfect setting on a hillside overviewing the valley of Kuchan with its stunning Mt. Yote San. The next 6 days will be yours to enjoy Hokkaidos best powder. Each morning we will decide where to go. On days with heavy snowfall, sure Rusutsu and Kiroro are the first choices. Here we ski below the treeline, which gives us enough visibility even in snowy weather. After a great day of powder skiing you will enjoy a nice soak in the natural hot springs right by our hotel.
On days with less snowfall or even sunny days, we will ski the backcountry of Niseko. The Anupuri Peak has some very nice northern powder runs down to Goshki Onsen. Here we either ski back to the resort or skin up to Mt. Iwanapuri in about 45 Minutes. Here another perfect powder slope leads us down. If you are very keen to hike and ski, Yote San (1870 Meter) can be an option. It takes about 5 – 7 hours to reach the summit. Apart from stunning views, an unforgettable run takes us back down to the road. Generally, it is very likely that you need to do some short ascents on skins on this trip. The sushi powder is well known by now and attracts more and more skiers from all over the world each year. Consequently, the runs that are very easily accessible are tracked quickly on a day without fresh snowfall. But with short ascents, we will be able to reach untracked terrain and will be rewarded with good snow. After 6 days of skiing, we will head back to Chitose City, where you will be dropped off at the Grand Terrace Hotel. From there you will start your outbound journey the next morning.
- This journey is only suited for good skiers with at least a few years of freeriding experience.
- The Hokkaido powder is well known by now and on days without snowfall, the slopes are tracked pretty quickly. Therefore uphill climbs of up to 2 hours have to be expected. Adequate gear and experience is required.
- The ascent up Yote San takes 5-7 hours. We will only do it if the group is fit enough and is motivated to climb this spectacular mountain.

Please note the following three points after your booking:
A good or very good physical shape =>
A realistic self-assessment and an appropriate fitness level is required to join our trips. In order to enjoy long ski days you need to get in shape and train prior to the trip. A good fitness also reduces the risk of injury.
Information about the destination, vaccinations, health =>
Please keep yourself updated about the current (political) situation and country specific particularities of your destination. You can do so by checking the website of the ministry of foreign affairs of your own country.
Travel insurance =>
Please note that there is a potential risk of injury on a ski trip. When travelling abroad several travel insurances are imperative. Besides a travel cancellation insurance we highly recommend a travel health insurance as well as a travel accident insurance. These insurances need to cover potential costs for search and rescue operations and costs for hospital stays etc. It is your own responsibility to make sure you are covered accordingly.
For all of our trips that include a flight, a travel accident and travel health insurance that cover potential costs for search and rescue operations and medical costs (for example hospital stays) is mandatory. The insurance will be queried in our online registration form and we kindly ask you to fill in that information.
Appropriate insurance companies you can find in the internet. Please also check your credit card, eventually the according insurances are included.
