Spring on Iceland
Hiking to the snow line
The signs for a successful week of ski touring on the Troll Peninsula in the far north of Iceland were anything but good. It hadn't snowed for weeks, and the relatively mild temperatures had melted the snow in the lower elevations. So, from the car, we had to hike a long way with our skis on our shoulders across green meadows to the snow line. With the right attitude—and we're very grateful to the participants for this—it still turned out to be a wonderful week of touring with many unique experiences. We even had a few summit experiences and even a few nice turns. Thank you guys!
