A difficult winter in Japan

Mild temperatures and lack of snow...

was to be found in January on Honshu. The famous tree runs were difficult with a lot of bushes not been covered well. Unfortunately our first 2 groups had to struggle with these conditions. While the first group still found good snow above the tree line, rain up high made the second week very challenging for both guides and guests. A massive snowfall has been the game changer in the thrid week. Up to the middle of the 4th week the conditions had been much better and finally our guest were able to experience the infamous "Japow Feeling".

More snow on Hokkaido

Generally good conditions were to be found during our both road trips through Hokkaido. Although there had been less snow than usual also, we were able to ski many nice runs in good powder snow.
