Kosovo - Free Mountain Week

We love to go to exotic regions to ski there. A few years ago we discovered the small town of Brezovica on an exploration trip in the Balkans and were immediately impressed by the charm and freeride possibilities of this ski area.

Trip Description

The small town of Brezovica is hidden in a valley of the Dinaric Alps. The development of modern ski tourism failed to materialize here. The lifts that were built in the past have a nostalgic effect, and it is with a smile that you use the three systems that are still working to get to the spectacular terrain on the mountain. Arriving at the mountain station, there is a one-hour ascent with skins to the highest point at over 2,600 m above sea level. The difference in altitude down into the valley is more than 1,000 meters. Between Macedonia in the south and Kosovo in the north you are in a place that impresses with great opportunities for freeriders.

On one day of the week we use a snow cat to get to the surrounding area without having to climb up. Optionally, further trips with the snowcat can be organized on site. We appreciate skiing in Brezovica, far away from well-known destinations. Long, good descents and also the snow quality in the last few winters have convinced us to come back and offer this trip again.

Itinerary

The journey starts with a flight from Zurich, Munich or Frankfurt to Pristina, the capital of Kosovo. Wizzair flies to Pristina from Basel and Memmingen. In just over an hour by minibus you can reach Brezovica, where we are located near the lifts. The descents are reached by using lifts, a powerful snow cat with cabin and own ascents with skins.

A total of six days are available in the beautiful mountain landscape of the Dinaric Alps to get to know the best runs. In Brezovica there are several bars and restaurants that offer a boisterous après-ski especially at the weekend. The return journey to Pristina begins on the following Friday after skiing. We spend the last night in this lively city.

Our Hotel

The Brezovica Hotel & Spa ***** is only a few kilometers away from the ski area and is by far the best hotel in town. Modern rooms designed according to international standards and a large wellness area ensure a feel-good atmosphere. In the evening we can either let our taste buds be pampered in the hotel's own restaurant Gjethja or we can go to one of the surrounding restaurants.
