A Unique Corner of the Alps
We’re always taken aback by the sensational freeride terrain that the side valleys near Cima Piazzi have to offer. After a mere few minutes’ flight, we can already land in the middle of this breath-taking high-mountain world and enjoy some of the most beautiful runs. In the evenings we will be spoilt with the local cuisine and Valtellinian specialities. If you’re looking to find a gem in the Alps, this will be something for you.
On the first day we shall meet from 19:00 at the Hotel Sasella in Grosio. That evening we will enjoy an exquisite dinner and you will be given a briefing of the heliskiing program and protocol. The next morning we will have a few minutes’ drive to the helicopter and we will set off on our flight to our first location. We will have the next three days to enjoy amazing runs in a quiet and secluded corner of the Alps. As heliskiing in the Alps has been a delicate subject, we have agreed not to fly on Sundays. Instead, we have the possibility of spending the day in one of the close by skiing resorts.
Helicopter & Flying
On this trip we use a well-known and trusted local helicopter company. Our pilots are skilled and experienced professionals, with excellent knowledge of our areas. We use a Eurocopter AS 350, which has proven itself to be the best choice for our heliskiing operations. It offers space for four guests, one guide, and one piolet per flight.
Should we be unable to fly due to unfavourable conditions or the risk of avalanches, you will be reimbursed with 130 EUR per unused flight hour. The slight difference between the reimbursed hours and extra flight hours results from having the helicopter ready and on standby.
We will be staying in Grosio, a beautiful Valtellinian mountain village, in the Hotel Sassella. Our hotel is perfectly situated just a few minutes away from our helicopter base. You will get to enjoy outstanding cuisine and make use of the spa after a full day. A sauna, Jacuzzi, and Turkish bath will help you to relax and regenerate for the next day.
Requirements and Skiing Equipment
- A good skiing technique in all terrains and snow conditions is necessary. We also recommendfreeride skiing equipment (min. 95mm under the binding).
Bad Weather Days / Down Days
Should unfavourable conditions or the risk of avalanches not permit flying, we will be able to reach the skiing resorts Bormio or Isolaccia within 30 minutes.
Reaching Upper Valtellina from the north side of the Alps in winter can be difficult. To reach our hotel in Grosio, it is better to travel over St. Moritz and the Bernina Pass to Grosio.
The minimum number of clients for this trip is 8 pax, the maximum 12 pax.
