Iceland - The Hidden Lines
For over 15 years, we have been drawn to the wild and beautiful island of Iceland. In northern Iceland, on the Troll Peninsula, we find the most beautiful ski tours, sometimes with a picturesque view of a fjord, sometimes with views of an almost endless world of peaks.
Price: 2600 EUR
City Flair and Unknown Ski Touring Destinations
We find this combination in Akureyri at the southern end of the Eyjafjord. In less than an hour's drive from the small town of Akureyri we can reach a number of beautiful ski touring destinations. In a remote landscape we climb up to one of the fascinating peaks of Iceland and after a well-deserved rest on the summit we ski down to the starting point in powder or corn snow.
After a long day of ski touring we then let the late afternoon come to an end in one of the cozy cafés and fortify ourselves for the next day in one of the numerous restaurants. A visit to the Forest Lagoon, one of the most beautiful baths in Iceland fed by hot springs, is also very popular after an exhausting ski tour.
Character of the Trip
This trip offers you a lot of variety. We guide you to the most beautiful tours on the Eyjafjörður, with exciting descents often right down to the rough coast. On days with bad weather and poor visibility, we can spend a day at Hlíðarfjall, the local ski resort. It offers beautiful runs in open terrain, and when it gets very stormy, the warm mountain hut is not far away. Most of our peaks are between 1000 and 1300 meters high. Due to the northern location, many peaks over 1000 meters are already covered with glaciers.
Itinerary
We usually fly directly from Central Europe to Reykjavik. With our shuttle vehicle, it takes 5 hours to drive through Iceland's wild and rugged landscape until we reach the picturesque Akureyri. The next morning, we start right away. Flexible and independent, we can choose our daily destination according to the weather and wind. On sunny days, we like to head north where the mountains near Ólafsfjörður sink directly into the sea. If the weather is rather rough, the mountains in the south near Hrafnagil are more favorable. Here, for example, the Kerling rises over 1500 meters above the valley and offers a beautiful ski touring destination. On the 6th day of the trip, we return to Reykjavik after the ski tour, where we stay overnight again to catch our flight home the next day.

Our Accomodation
The cozily furnished Hotel Kea is located directly in Akureyri, close to the pedestrian zone. The freshly prepared breakfast buffet strengthens us for a long day in the mountains, dinner we have in one of the many restaurants in the city. We spend the last night in Rekyjavik in a mid-range hotel.
