Greenland Ski & Sail
Eternity Fjord sounds very promising... on the west coast of Greenland, the pack ice allows for a unique ski and sail trip in early May. A new project for us, one we've carefully prepared with our well-known sailing crew from the Ocean A.
Price: 5200 EUR
The name says it all
From Manitsoq, the picturesque fishing village located on the rugged west coast of Greenland, we'll travel comfortably north into the Eternity Fjord on our very familiar sailing yacht, the Ocean A. The ski touring opportunities in this breathtaking landscape are as endless as the fjord's name. Many of the peaks have no names and rise over 1,800 meters above the fjord.
If you want to experience something truly extraordinary with us again, discover the combination of sailing and skiing, and do without luxury and single rooms, this trip will be an absolute highlight of your skiing career.
Travel Itinerary
The journey takes us via Copenhagen to Nuuk (Greenland), where we'll spend a day, allowing us to experience life in a small Greenlandic town. A small ski lift on the outskirts of town invites you to go skiing, and a short ski tour up one of the surrounding mountains is also possible. After our stay in Nuuk, we'll have a 30-minute domestic flight to Manitsoq, where we'll board the boat. So, from a current perspective, two overnight stays in Nuuk and one on the return journey in Copenhagen are unavoidable.
Our boat trip will take us past enormous glaciers that jut directly into the sea, alongside large, sometimes rugged mountain backdrops. This landscape is still very untouched, and there's no literature on ski touring here. However, we've prepared well and selected a few possible tours. This trip will certainly require a bit of a pioneering spirit, but we're confident that we can offer you an unforgettable ski & sail experience.

Our Sailboat
The Ocean A is a sailboat specially designed for Arctic waters. It has five sleeping cabins, each accommodating two to three people, and is approximately 22 meters long. A diesel heating system ensures pleasant warmth in the cabins and lounge. Ski boots and wet clothing can be dried. A total of three showers and toilets are available, although fresh water is quite scarce on a sailboat. Only one or two showers are allowed per participant per week.
Meals are prepared in the galley. We do the dishes together. If necessary, we may have to organize anchor watches or polar bear watches at night. The Ocean A is certainly not a luxury yacht, but it is a very functional and reliable home for our week.
Skiing Equipment
Standard ski touring gear and a change of clothes are sufficient for Greenland at this time of year. Temperatures in May range between +2°C and -10°C on the coast; on the peaks, we can expect winter temperatures as low as -20°C with a wind factor.
For glacier trekking, you'll also need a harness with a screwgate carabiner, which we can provide free of charge upon request. We'll send you a detailed equipment list with your booking.
