Immerse yourself and enjoy
There are also hidden and unknown spots in the Alps...such as in Queyras in the Cottian Alps. Here lies the idyllic mountain village of Saint Veran at over 2000 meters, besides Juf in Switzerland the highest mountain village in the Alps that is inhabited all year round. Guaranteed snow and almost endless terrain are guaranteed here in Queyras. If you appreciate being brought up with the lift and then climbing up to 1000 meters of altitude on your own, you are in the right place on this impressive journey.
The Ski Terrain
The retro style pommel lift takes you 900 meters uphill from Saint Veran. From here we climb up to the Pic de Chateau in 30 minutes. Here a wonderful run leads us down into the Ravin de la Fontain. With another ascent on skins we get to Pic Marcel. On the north side we drive back to Saint Veran over the best terrain.
The next day we take it a little more comfortable. The motto is: a lot of descent, little ascent. At the Grand Serre we leave the pommel lift and ski down the north side to Fontgillardes, over the cross-country ski slope we get back towards Molines en Queyras, from here a chairlift brings us back to Saint Verran. On the more than 4 kilometers wide north slope of the Pic Chateau we can still find many beautiful variants.
The next day, a short detour to Aiguilles en Queyras is on our program. Also here are just a few old lifts that are not mentioned in any ski atlas or freeride guide. With ascent of a maximum of 1 hour we get into the best freeride terrain. If the snow conditions allow it, today is our final run over 1200 meters down to the mountain village Abries. Even in the next few days we will not get bored in the high valley of Saint Veran, our possibilities up here are too big and varied. Let yourself be surprised by a magical mountain world with unforgettable runs.
We are accommodated in the very beautiful Spa Hotel **** Alta Peyra in the center of the village of Saint Veran. The hotel has 59 lovingly designed rooms, spread over 5 buildings which are all connected to one another. A spacious spa area invites you to relax after skiing, and there is even a heated outdoor pool. In the evening, the chef Sebastien Nouveau will spoil our palates with his Michelin-star cuisine or we can enjoy a very tasty meal in the equally in-house bistro d'en O.
Attention: the hotel does not offer single rooms!
