21/01 - 30/01/2011: Curry Powder India Gulmarg I

Price: 1,390 EUR
Skiing in India? Sounds a bit exotic. But as we explored the mountains of Kaschmir on ski 5 years ago, we were absolutely overwhelmed. The cable car that has only been completed five years ago, is one of the highest of the world; the top station lies at 4,000 metres above sea level. From there the slopes lead steeply and diversely down to Gulmarg, a descent of 1,600 vertical metres. First we will ski through a high alpine mountain landscape. At 3,300 metres we will dive into light cedar woods. Heavy snow falls occur regularly in this region, the average snow depths is at 3 metres and even more during winter. Let us seduce you into one of the most exotic and most exciting skiing and freeride areas in the world. Our guide Andi Millinger has traveled for many years to Gulmarg and knows the place realy well, and will be very glad to lead you through some of the most exciting Freeride spots on earth.
Course of the journey
On 20th of January we will fly from Munich or Frankfurt to Delhi. On 21th of January we will then take the domestic flight on to Srinagar in Kaschmir. In Srinagar we will first get in touch with the Indian culture. A scenic drive will take us another 50 km to Gulmarg at 2,500 metres above sea level. In Gulmarg we will be based in a very cosy hotel close to the cable car. During the next 6 days we will have plenty of opportunity to explore the wide hillsides at the 4,300 metres high Aphawat. On 3rd of February in the afternoon we will be taken back to Srinagar, where we will spend the last night on a house boat on the Dahl lake. On 29th of Jannuary we will then take the flight to Delhi and from there on to Europe.

Important information
Every participant should be aware of the fact that during a skiing trip to India not everything will run according to plan. The mentality of the people of Kaschmir is very different from ours. Time is not important there. There is always the risk of delays that are not really comprehensible for us. Also at the cable car the operating times are very flexible. Usually it operates between 8:30 am and 3 pm; but this can change. The cable car operator reserves its right to let the second section out of service when the risk of avalanches is high. In order to be able to fully enjoy this trip, you should prepare yourselves for these things and adapt your expectations accordingly.
The minimum number of participants is 6. Please note our Travel Conditions at www.flory-kern.de/agb.
