25/03 - 27/03/2011: Skiing Up & Down in Oberstdorf

Why not go to Germany for a change? It doesn’t always have to be some exotic country in order to get a few days of good skiing. Our mountain guide Felix has planned an early spring tour for you. Let him guide you through Kleinwalsertal at Fellhorn and Kanzelwand.
Our plan: ascent with “Walmendingerhornbahn” up to 1,940m. After a short warm-up ride, we will take a north-facing run for about 700 vertical metres down into Schwarzwasser Valley. About 20 minutes of pushing will get us to the valley station of “Ifenbahn” which will take us to 2,000m again. Now we will have to climb for about an hour up to the Ifen Plateau. From there we have two options: Firstly, riding through a gap of a about degree south-facing back into Schwarzwasser Valley (fantastic run of about 880 vertical metres) or, secondly, abseiling down a 30m high vertical drop into the same run. A breathtaking option, more of a great skiing experience is hardly possible. If there is enough time, we will take the bus back to Kanzelwandbahn und ascend up to 1,968m. From there a west-facing run in the evening sun is waiting for us. On the program for the second day we will decide on spot depending on our condition and the wheather.

- secure and speedy skiing in all snow conditions
- experience in handling a rope

- 2 days guiding by state-approved mountain and skiing guide
- 2 overnights with half-board in a mid-class hotel
- safety equipment (LVS device, shovel and probe) on loan (needs to be registered at least 10 days before the journey)

Anreise
Via Oberstdorf into “Kleinwalsertal”. In Westegg turn right into “Jägerwinkel”, after about 500 m right again. We will meet in Gasthof Sonnenburg on 25th of April at about 7 pm.
